How do I use VoiceToText?

VoiceToText is incredibly simple to use. There are multiple ways to transcribe your audio:

  • From Any App: Use the Share button in any app that has audio or video (like iMessage, Telegram, Voice Memos, Files), select VoiceToText from the share menu, and your transcription will appear instantly.
  • Direct Upload: Open the VoiceToText app and tap the upload button to select audio or video files from your device.
  • Batch Processing: Select multiple files at once to transcribe them all in one go — perfect for processing long conversations or multiple recordings.

All transcriptions happen on your device, so they're fast and completely private. No internet connection required!

Can I transcribe multiple files at once?

Yes! VoiceToText supports batch transcription, which is one of its most powerful features:

  • Select multiple audio or video files from your Files app, Photos app, or any file manager
  • Share them all to VoiceToText at once
  • The app will process them one by one and provide you with all transcriptions
  • This is perfect for transcribing entire conversations, meeting recordings, or a series of voice memos

There's no limit to how many files you can batch process — transcribe as many as you need!

What types of files can I transcribe?

VoiceToText supports a wide range of audio and video formats:

  • Audio files: MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, and more
  • Video files: MP4, MOV, M4V — the app extracts and transcribes the audio
  • Voice messages: From iMessage, Telegram, Signal, or any messenger app

How do I transcribe voice messages from Telegram or iMessage?

Transcribing voice messages from messaging apps is extremely easy with VoiceToText's share extension:

For iMessage:

  1. Long press on a voice message in your conversation
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. Select "VoiceToText" from the share menu
  4. Your transcription appears instantly!

For Telegram:

  1. Tap and hold on any voice or video message
  2. Select "Forward" or "Share"
  3. Choose "VoiceToText" from the share options
  4. Get your transcription in seconds

For Signal and other messengers:

  1. Long press the voice or video message
  2. Use the share or forward option
  3. Select VoiceToText from the share sheet
  4. Receive your transcription immediately

This works for both individual voice messages and video messages that contain speech. You can even share multiple messages at once for batch transcription!

Do I need an internet connection to use VoiceToText?

No! VoiceToText works completely offline. All AI processing happens directly on your iPhone using advanced on-device models. This means:

How accurate are the transcriptions?

Can I search through my past transcriptions?

Yes! VoiceToText keeps a complete history of all your transcriptions. You can:

  • Browse through all past transcriptions in the History tab
  • Copy any transcription text to use elsewhere

What languages does VoiceToText support?
